Aleksandra Samardzic super judo talent of Bosnia Herzegovina. She claimed a silver medal at the World Junior Championships in Zagreb in 2017 and bronze at the junior Europeans. She took European bronze in the Junior and U23 age and silver in 2015 and bronze in 2017. Samardzic won the Youth Olympics silver in 2014. She took a bronze medal at the Grand Prix in Zagreb in 2016. She won gold at the European Cup in Sarajevo in 2015 and 2016. She won a bronze medal at the Grand Slam in Baku in 2017.

Sarajevo ready for tenth European Cup

The tenth edition of the European Cup in Sarajevo kicks off on Saturday morning. This edition with a record number of participating countries. Sarajevo again proud host of Cadet European Championships

This week more than 450 young judoka are expected to fight at the Cadet European Championships in Sarajevo. The Juan Antonio Samaranch Olympic Hall was named in honor of Juan Antonio Samaranch in 2010 after the death of the former IOC President. The venue was used for various sporting events at the 1984 Winter Olympics. Read more


Giovanna Scoccimarro fifth ever German World Junior champion

Giovanna Scoccimarro won world junior gold for Germany by beating Aleksandra Samardzic of Bosnia Herzegovina in the U70kg final in Zagreb. A waza-ari score was the difference after four minutes of judo as European Championships silver medallist Scoccimarro outworked Samardzic for a victory which ended Germany’s wait for a medal in Zagreb in scintillating fashion. Maribor proud host of Junior European Championships

Slovenia is of course well known for its success in the women’s divisions for the last five years with two Olympic Champions in London and Rio and bronze for Ana velensek. Silver at the recent World Championships for Tina Trstenjak and of course surprise Mihael Zgank U90kg gave Slovenian judo another boost. Perhaps in the junior division less dominant as before, but still medal chances for some of their youngsters. Read more
