Canadian judoka Jessica Klimkait captured gold at the Grand Slam in Osaka in 2018. In 2013 she became World Cadet Champion U18 in 2013 in Miami. Jessica won bronze at the Grand Slam in Ekaterinburg and GP bronze in Hohhot and Zagreb. Silver at the 2018 Grand Prix in Cancun. She took bronze at the 2018 and 2019 World Masters. She took silver at the Grand Slam in Paris in 2019 and captured three consecutive Grand Prix medals in Hohhot, Montreal and gold in Zagreb.

Abu Dhabi Grand Slam gold medallist Kim Jin A of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea became her country’s first World Judo Masters champion with a riveting display in the U57kg category. For the third consecutive Grand Prix this year Canadian Jessica Klimkait pocketed a medal. Bronze in Hohhot, silver on home ground in Canada and the gold medal in Zagreb, her first Grand Prix gold among her twelve World Tour medals. Not only Canada was looking forward to the super clash between Jessica Klimkait and Christa Deguchi. The two Canadian rivals are the numbers 4 and 7 in the IJF World Ranking but both capable of winning an Olympic medal, a historic Olympic medal. Second gold for North Korea in Hohhot

Asian-Pacific Championships winner Kim Jin A of North Korea struck IJF gold for the first time in her career as she defeated Tel Aviv Grand Prix silver medallist Daria Mezhetskaia of Russia in the U57kg final. Mezhetskaia was denied a first IJF title by the world number 33 and first-time IJF finalist who backed up her impressive Asian Games credentials by celebrating gold for a rampant Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (PRK) team.
