Judoka Roland Poiger of Austria won a bronze medal at the Austrian Championships U18 Vienna in 1993 in the category U86. He became international referee for the IJF. He acts at world level at the major judo events. He officiated World Championships in various age categories and in the IJF World Tour. He is organiser of the European Open in Oberwart with his brother Martin Poiger. He officiated the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2021.
