Belgian judoka Jorre Verstraeten opened 2019 with a victory at the Grand Prix in Tel Aviv. He captured bronze at the European Games in Minsk 2019. He won bronze medal at the Grand Prix in Cancun in 2017. Verstraeten won bronze at the European Open in Minsk in 2018. He won a silver medal at the EYOF in Utrecht in 2013 U50kg. He won a bronze medal at the Cadet Worlds in 2013. He won bronze at the European Open in Lisbon in 2017. 2018 Belgian senior Champion.

Georgia have a new European Judo Champion after Lukhumi Chkhvimiani defeated Spaniard Francisco Garrigos in the men's judo U60kg final at Chizhovka Arena. In the ranking of the first eight athletes four athletes with Georgian names, the original Georgians took two medals, gold and there was bronze for Amiran Papinashvili who bested Dutchman Tornike Tsjkadoea.
