Shohei Ono of Japan is the 2020 and 2016 Olympic Champion of Tokyo and Rio. He became World Champion in 2015 in Astana and 2013 in Rio de Janeiro. In 2019 he added his third world title in the Budokan against Rustam Orujov. Ono won the World Junior Championships U20 in 2011 in Cape Town. Ono Shohei won the Grand Prix in Dusseldorf in 2015, 2016 and Grand Slam in 2018, 2019 and 2020. He captured gold at the Grand Slam in Osaka in 2018. World Mixed team gold in Tokyo in 2019. He retired in December 2022 to become coach.
