Italian judoka Matteo Medves captured a bronze medal at the Grand Prix in Zagreb in 2017. He won a silver medal at the European Open in Rome in 2017 in the final against World Champion An Baul. Medves won the Italian title in 2016 after he won the Italian Cadet title in 2010. He took a silver medal at the 2018 European Championships in Tel Aviv as well as silver at the European Games in Minsk in 2019.
