Former Russian judoka Askerbiy Gerbekov took the gold medal at the 3rd USIP World Police Games in Milan in 2019. Gerbekov switched to Bahrain in 2019. He bagged a silver medal at the European Open in Madrid in 2022. In 2023 he won the Arab Championships in Doha.
