Maike Ziech was European Junior (2012) and U23 Champion in 2014. In 2014 she won the European Club title. She won European cadet silver in 2009. She won World Junior bronze with the German team in 2013. In 2015 Ziech won the Euro Open in Minsk. Bronze at FISU 2015. In 2018 she took gold at the European Open in Warsaw.She took bronze at the World Junior Team Championships in 2013 with Germany. Maike took silver at the European Open in Cluj Napoca and bronze at the GP in Montreal.

Hamada Shori dominates U78kg category in Montreal

There was no doubt that the reigning World Champion, Hamada Shori, was the undisputed favorite in the category. She won all her preliminary rounds by ippon, successively defeating Sophie Berger (BEL), Teresa Zenker (GER) and Vanessa Chala (ECU). In the final she was opposed to Russian Aleksandra Babintseva, bronze medalist of the last world championships. Read more

Michaela Polleres defeats Hilde Jager for gold in Warsaw

Number one seed Michaela Polleres captured her first European Open victory in her career. In Warsaw the Austrian judoka won her category U70kg after she bested Dutch Hilde Jager. In the second minute of the match Polleres took the lead after she took over Jager but a few seconds later she turned Jager into a second wazari for the victory. Polleres who won silver at the European U23 Championships where she lost to Jager in the final. Read more

At the first day of the FISU Universiade in Taipei Korea had the best judoka. With gold for Han Mijin and two silver medals, the Koreans lead the medal table. The tournament also includes an open tournament at the last and fourth day, so the heavier categories started at day one. Read more

Katharina Menz won her third consecutive national title today U48kg. The German lightweight from TSG Backnang defeated Mira Ulrich today in the final in Hamburg and won her third title in a row. Also Carolin Weiss prolonged her title in the heavyweight class. The heavyweight of Berlin overcame Kristin Buessow as last year’s finalist Franziska Konitz fights in Cuba on Sunday. Read more
