Japanese heavyweight Ryu Shichinohe won the silver medal at the World Championships in 2014 and 2015 against Teddy Riner. He won the Grand Slam in Paris in 2014 and Grand Prix Ulaanbaatar (2014) and Dusseldorf in 2015. Won his first All Japanese title in 2012. He won silver at the Grand Slam in Paris in 2017.
