Georgian judoka Zebeda Rekhviashvili won the European Open in Oberwart in 2014. He was European Open Team Champion with Georgia in 2012, 2013 and 2014. He came back in 2017 and won silver at the Grand Slam in Paris. He took bronze at the Grand Slam in Ekaterinburg in 2017. He took bronze at the Grand Slam in Ekaterinburg in 2018. Paris Grand Slam winner Fujiwara Sotaro of Japan won his second Grand Slam gold medal in as many months as he defeated compatriot Sasaki Takeshi (JPN) in the U81kg final, the first on day two.
