Agata Perenc of Poland captured silver at the Grand Prix in Tashkent in 2017. She won more than 10 World Cup medals, U57kg and later she stepped back in U52kg and won bronze medals in Oberwart, Samsung, Zagreb and Cluj all in 2015. In 2016 she took bronze at the African Open in Tunis. Perenc was Polish champion U17, U23 and won the senior title in 2010 and 2012. She won bronze at the European Open in Minsk in 2017.

IJF World Judo Tour rookie and Grand Prix debutant Betina Temelkova of Israel starred in the U52kg category with a eyecatching gold medal at the Grand Prix in Tashkent. Temelkova, 20, defeated three-time Grand Prix bronze medallist Agata Perenc (POL) to complete an incredible debut at the highest level with a masterful ko-soto, that had a hint of a modified kata-guruma about it, to earn ippon and Grand Prix gold at the first time of asking. Evelyne Tschopp first Swiss woman to win gold at IJF Tour

Evelyne Tschopp finally won a big gold medal in the IJF World Tour. The Swiss was able to surprise Gili Cohen in the final U52kg with a fast score and she rapidly converted her move into oseikomi. The 24-year old Tschopp who lost her previous two finals at the Grand Slam of Paris (2015) and Oceania Open, was also surprised with such quick victory against last week’s winner in Baku. Read more

Polish women take first ever European team title

The women of Poland became European Champion, an amazing result for the organiser of the next European Games. The Polish women defeated Russia at home in Kazan. Poland was also in the final of the World Championships last year in Astana. This time they won the gold medal for the first time in the history of Poland. Even the men had never won this title but they cheered as much as they can on the tribune. The Polish men won the bronze today in Astana. Read more

For the seventh time only the women travel to Warsaw for the Polish Open, now the European Open. The former A-tournament has a long history and the women are welcomed in Warsaw separately since 2004.
