German judoka Marc Odenthal won the World Cup in Warsaw in 2013. In 2015 Odenthal won the Grand Prix Tashkent in 2015. German champion in 2015. Qualified for Rio via the continental quota. He won seven World Cup medals since 2013. He captured a bronze medal at the European Cup Celje Podčetrtek in 2017. He won bronze at the European Cup in Uster and Euro Open Madrid in 2018. He took bronze at the European Cup in Sarajevo in 2018. He claimed a silver medal at the 2018 Grand Prix in Cancun. He fought in the team of TSV Abensberg and won the Bundesliga.
