Serbian judoka Dmitri Gerasimenko won the Universiade in Belgrade (Student World Championships) in 2009 for Russia, but switched to Serbia in 2011 and was immediately successful winning World Cups in Baku and Oberwart. He competed at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Strong uchi-mata. He clinched a silver medal at the European Cup in Belgrade in 2016. He took bronze at the Sambo World Champion in Bucharest in 2018. He claimed a bronze medal at the 2019 Sambo European Games Minsk
