Egyptian judoka Hisham Mesbah was 2008 Olympic bronze medallist in Beijing U90kg. He won the Grand Prix in Qingdao in 2009. Mesbah won the All African Games in Alger in 2007 and in Maputo in 2011, both U90kg. Mesbah was inducted into the IJF Hall of Fame in 2018. After his career he became an IJF referee at the major top events.

Many judoka as flag carriers at Olympic Games London

According to decision of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine the national flag at the opening ceremony of XXX Olympic Games will be carried by Roman Gontyuk. London Olympics will be the third in a sport career of judoka who represents Ukraine in the weight category under 90 kilograms. He won silver medal in Athens in 2004 and a bronze medal in Beijing in 2008 fighting in the category under 81kg. Read more
