German judoka Axel Lobenstein was the 1989 World bronze medallist He won the European title in 1991 in Prague. His judo club was Leipzig JC. Lobenstein finished 5th at the Olympic Games Barcelona in 1992. He triumphed at the German Open World Masters in 1991, 1995 and 1996.
