Judoka Antónia Moreira of Angola won the African title U70kg in 2014 and 2005 and African Games in 22015. Moreira won World Cup medals since 2012 in Bucharest. In 2015 she won bronze in Cluj and Ulaanbaatar. She was 9th at the Olympic Games in London and competed at World Championships.

Chair for IJF athlete commission still an option for Teddy Riner

French star Teddy Riner could retain his position as head of the Athletes' Commission after the International Judo Federation (IJF) selected him for a role on the body. Riner, who won his ninth world title during the event here and stretched his winning run to 134 matches, was one of four athletes hand-picked for a position on the Commission by the IJF. Read more

African Judo Championships help qualifying for Rio2016

Athletes from 31 nations will fight for the essential Qualification Points to participate at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. The African Championships in Tunis are more important than ever and in the 14 weight classes each point can help the athletes to Rio. Last year at the African Championships the current host Tunisia was amazingly strong picking 50% of all 16 available medals including Open category. Eight titles for the current host nation rises the expectations. Tunisia and Algeria ended equal in the men’s division but in the women Tunisia won with 5 gold medals. Read more
