Austrian Judo Federation President since 2021. He was European Judo Union Director and became General Secretary of the EJU in March 2022 and in the EJU Bureau and Executive Committee. As a judoka he won several medals in all age groups as a cadet, junior and senior at Austrian Championships. Martin took national medals since 1994 for more than a decade in categories U86kg, U90kg and U100kg. He has a legal background. His brother Roland Poiger is an international IJF referee. Both have been organisers of the European Open World Cup tournament in Oberwart.
