Former Junior World Championships competitor Yong Gwon Kim fought in Zagreb, Croatia, last year at the U20 showpiece but came up against former Cadet World Championships gold medallist Koga Genki (JPN) who happens to be the son of 1992 Olympic champion and three-time world champion Koga Toshihiko (JPN). KIM took young Koga the distance but ultimately lost out by a waza-ari score from an okuri-ashi-barai. He finished seventh at the 2018 World Championships in Baku.
