Romanian judoka Alexandru Matei won the Cadet European Cup in Berlin in 2019. In 2019 clinched a bronze medal at the Cadet European Championships in Warsaw. He took a silver medal at the EYOF in Baku in 2019. He claimed a bronze medal at the Junior European Cup in Athens in 2022. He clinched a bronze medal at the Junior European Cup in Malaga in 2022. He secured the silver medal at the Junior European Cup in Paks in 2022. In 2022 he added a bronze medal at the European U23 title in Sarajevo. He took gold at the European Cup in Malaga in 2023.
