Paralympic judoka Oliver Upmann of Germany won bronze medals in 2016 at the VI Grand Prix Birmingham and VI German Open Heidelberg (and 2017), so he is expected to be in shape for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio. Upmann competed at many IBSA European and World Championships. He finished fifth at the Paralympic Games in London2012. Upmann won the IBSA European bronze medal in Walsall in 2017. He claimed the bronze medal at the IBSA Grand Prix in Baku in 2019.
