The Netherlands again have a good position taking at least three medals at the second day of the European Championships. The Dutch team have three finalists with Frank de Wit U81kg, Sanne van Dijke U70kg and Larissa Groenwold U78kg.
Russia have two finalist in the two men’s heavyweight categories. Oleg Abaev will fight Danilo Pantic (MNE) and Ruslan Shakhbazov of Russia will fight Guram Tushishvili of Georgia. Also the Georgian have two finalists as also Beka Gviniashvili qualified for the final as expected U90kg. Gviniashvili will fight David Tekic of Germany, who defeated Mikhail Igolnikov (RUS) in the semi final and will now fight another German for bronze; Eduard Trippel.
Moldova will take a medal U81kg no matter the result of Nicon Zaborosciuc vs Frank de Wit.
In the women’s category U63kg the two British favourites Piovesana and Renshall met in the semi final and Renshall made it to the final against Elisavet Teltsidou of Greece. The Greek defeated Selina Dietzer (GER). A tasty final between Sanne van Dijke and Szabina Gercsak, last year’s two European Champions U63kg and U70kg. Gercsak stepped up to U70 and defeated Austria’s favourites Michaela Polleres in the semi. Van Dijke beat Italian strong woman Alessandra Prosdocimo who can revenge herself against Aleksandra Samardzic of her defeat last year in Bucharest.
Dutch Larissa Groenwold defeated French former Cadet European Champion Morgane Duchene in the semi and will now meet Brigita Matic of Croatia in the final.
Almost a second Croatian woman in the final but in the heavyweight semi final Katarina Vukovic forgot that penalties are still applicable in judo, although her opponent Anna Zaleczna was almost out of energy, it was the Polish who reached the final against Vasylyna Kyrychenko of the Ukraine.
No French in the final in the contrary to yesterday where both France and Holland started with two gold medals.
