Tatsuru Saito injured, to recuperate til end of next year

Tatsuru Saito, who underwent neck surgery in late October, has said he will try to return to competition at the Japanese national weight-class championships in November 2025.
"I'll strengthen weak muscles in addition to the neck and rebuild my foundation for fighting," Saito said, adding that he had to undergo surgery because of a herniated cervical vertebrae and spinal canal stenosis.
Saito, who is rehabilitating at the Japan Institute of Sports Sciences, says he aims to compete in the 2028 LA Olympics. "I can't finish my career like this. I'll continue to fight for my pride.
