Arnold Kisoka of the Democratic Republic of Congo will proudly carry his country's flag at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Born on September 4, 2000, in Kinshasa, Kisoka has become a notable figure in the lightweight -60 kg judo category. His journey in judo began in 2008, and since then, he has shown a steadfast commitment to his sport, aspiring to become a great champion.

Kisoka made his world championships debut in 2024, where he competed in the -60 kg category but faced a challenging first-round match against Jorre Verstraeten of Belgium. Despite this early setback on the global stage, Kisoka has accumulated significant accomplishments in his career. He is a four-time African Open medallist, having secured one gold, two silver, and one bronze. His gold medal at the 2022 Yaounde African Open stands out as a highlight of his career. Additionally, he clinched a bronze medal at the 2023 Games of La Francophonie, further showcasing his skill and determination.

Coming from a large family as the 10th of 11 children, Kisoka's upbringing in Kinshasa was undoubtedly filled with support and encouragement. His parents, Nkiankandu and Kibadila Ntukifipa, have seen their son rise through the ranks of judo with dedication and perseverance. Kisoka graduated in 2018 with a degree in Construction from the Bumbe Technical Industrial Vocational Institute, balancing his academic pursuits with his athletic ambitions.

Kisoka trains at Judo Club Hurricane in Kinshasa under the guidance of national coaches Nicolas Lianza and Dady Bakoyene, as well as Miradie Boyoto El Mpifo. His preferred techniques include harai-goshi and seoi-nage, which have become integral parts of his judo repertoire. His commitment to training and improvement is evident as he continues to compete and represent his country on the international stage.

Off the mat, Kisoka enjoys relaxing in front of the TV and is a big fan of football, particularly admiring players like Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi. His sporting hero is French judoka Teddy Riner, a five-time Olympic medallist and 11-time world champion, whose achievements have greatly inspired Kisoka.

Kisoka's sporting philosophy, "Discipline. Work. Love. Victory," reflects his approach to both his training and his competitions. He also draws strength from his faith, often praying to the Almighty for guidance and support. As he prepares to represent the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Paris Olympics, Kisoka's journey is a testament to his hard work, discipline, and passion for judo. His presence as a flagbearer symbolizes not only his personal achievements but also the hopes and dreams of his country.
