Current double Olympic Champion Lukas Krpalek will return in his previous weight category U100kg. A remarkable step for the 2016 and 2021 Olympic Champion who announced his move on his social media.

Krpalek became World Champion in 2019 +100kg and 2014 fighting U100kg and was double European Champion in 2013 and 2014 U100kg and won European senior title again in 2018 in the class over 100kg. Krpalek was also double Junior World Champion and collected 38 World Cup medals. Krpalek was World ranking leader in both weight class and is curretly ranked sixth but the Czech will start from scratch again in U100kg. He was always coached by Petr Lacina.

Krpalek: “I thought about it for a long time and I came to the conclusion that I always found this weight class more fulfilling and more fun. I always liked a challenge and that was the reason I went to the +100kg weight class. After achieving almost everything in this weight class, I feel I need a new motivation again and that is to go back and try to win again where I belong. I will do everything I can to make it a successful mission again, ending with a medal at the Olympics in Paris.”

Krpalek will start his mission next weekend in Portugal at the Grand Prix.
