Shohei Ono might miss the World Championships in 2023

After Naohisa Takato and Hifumi Abe, two other judo stars withdrew from the Tokyo Grand Slam; Shohei Ono and Tatsuru Saito. Saito will be absent for an injury which was not specified in the press release from the Japanese federation.
Shohei Ono, double Olympic champion U73kg, declared that he still did not feel ready to resume competition. A decision that compromises a presence of the genius of Tenri at the 2023 world championships, in May, in Doha. And which raises, more generally, the question of the continuation or end of the career of the best Japanese middleweight in history. He will be replaced by Hayato Koga.
