Coimbra experiences 9 cadet winners from Germany

The second day of the European Cup for Cadets in Coimbra was marked by a great performance of the German athletes, who heard their anthem played 7 times today.

The audience witnessed some nice judo from Eduard Trippel (GER), who won with a big ippon against German Duran from Estonia, however, one of the most exciting finals was the match between Daniel Zorn from Germany and Musa Shakaraliyev from Azerbaijan. The gold was taken by young German player with a spectacular seoinage ippon.

The only non-german golds of today were claimed by Martin Hojak from Slovenia, who defeated a strong Azeri youngster Samir Aghayev and by Italian Alessandro Graziano, who faced in the final Henrik Noack from Germany.

In total, Germany finished the competition leading the medal table with 9 gold medals, followed by Azerbaijan with 4 and Italy with 2 gold medals.

This year’s edition of European Cup Cadet Coimbra welcomed 415 athletes from 21 different countries, establishing a new record of participation for Portugal.

Japanese Takeda Ryoko defeats Finnish Emilia Kanerva U57kg

At the World Cadet Championships in Sarajevo Japan added another gold medals. Cadet Asian Championships winner Takeda Ryoko (JPN) bested Cadet European champion and EYOF bronze medallist Emilia Kanerva (FIN) in the U57kg final to win the Cadet world title on Friday. Finland’s ‘super rookie’ arrived in Sarajevo on the back of winning EYOF bronze and before that claimed 13 gold medals in a row on the circuit. Takeda whose role model is all-time great and IJF Hall of Famer Tani (née Tamura) Ryoko opened the scoring with a waza-ari and added two yuko scores to win gold. Read more

German juniors continue medal hunger in Kaunas with 8 titles

Also at the second of the Junior European Cup in Kaunas, the German team kept the pace of winning. In total the German team captured eight titles including those five on Sunday. Both men and women won the medal table with both four gold medals. The Netherlands finished second with three gold medals and 15 medals in total, even more than the efficient Germans. Read more

New judo champions added to history of the Atom Cup in Paks

Seven different nations won the titles at the first day of the European Cup for juniors in the Hungarian city Paks. 388 athletes from 33 nations are gathered for the Atom Cup, an event with a huge history. Eight new champions added to that history. Fabio Basile, Andreea Chitu, Bernadette Graf, Lukas Krpalek, Georgii Zantaraia and many famous Hungarians won here in Paks. Read more

French Flam91 European Club Champion for women in Wuppertal

French women’s team FLAM’91 are the new European Club Champions. In Wuppertal the French bested the German team of MönchenGladbach. Strong women were gathered in Wuppertal and many athletes were hired to strengthen the teams. Read more

German women set junior records at European Cup in Prague

The German junior women proved their strength at the European Cup in Prague. Four category titles were captured by the German women and Falk Petersilka added one in the men’s division to make it five. Azerbaijan showcased strong judo among the men obviously beginning with gold in the lightweights U55kg by Rashkan Bakhishaliyev. Two all Azeri finals in U55 and U60 where Ahmad Yusufov won the title.
