Kenta Nagasawa clinches second Grand Prix title

World bronze medallist Kenta Nagasawa Kenta of Japan defeated Serbian former world champion Nemanja Majdov to strike U90kg gold in Hohhot. Japan’s number two in the category had the measure of Serbia’s standout with a uchi-mata on the edge of the contest area providing a waza-ari score which settled the final after four minutes.
In the first semi-final three-time Grand Prix silver medallist Giorgi Papunashvili (GEO) fell to Nagasawa after 28 seconds of golden score by a waza-ari score while in the second semi-final Majdov progressed after Marrakech Grand Prix silver medallist Eduard Trippel (GER) was dismissed for receiving three shidos.
The first bronze medal was won by world silver medallist Ivan Felipe Silva Morales (CUB) against Trippel in golden score with a o-soto-makikomi to open up the final block.
The second bronze medal went to Papunashvili who marginally outperformed world number 46 Ciril Grossklaus (SUI) to win by a waza-ari score.

Serbia's Former world champion Nemanja Majdov had the measure of Osaka Grand Slam bronze medallist Eduard Trippel of Germany in a closely fought U90kg final on day three in Marrakech. Both men were without a Grand Prix gold medal before today and it was the Serbian who registered in the win column today after scoring a waza-ari without reply. Read more
In one of the best matches in this tournament Aurelien Diesse (FRA) defeated current World Champion Nemanja Majdov (SRB) in his first round of the World Championships U90kg. The tournament goes on without the world champion from Serbia. Read more
