JSV Speyer captures the ECC Golden League

At the Golden League in Grozny the women of JSV Speyer have won the gold medal. In the final the German team defeated Vienna Samurai by 4-1. In the semi final Speyer defeated RSC Champigny by 3-2 as Jasmin Kuelbs was on fire and defeated Olympic Champion Audrey Tcheumeo.
In the final Odette Giuffrida (-52 kg), Nadja Bazynski (-63 kg), Szaundra Diedrich (-70 kg) and Jasmin Külbs (+70 kg) signed for the victories, for Samurai, another German, Miryam Roper, won her bout.
After a defeat in the first round, the women of Galatasaray captured bronze after a victory against French team JC Cortaillod. The French team of RSC Champigny that defeated Galatasaray took the second bronze in their bronze match against Shabolovka.
JSV Speyer won the European Club Championships two years ago in the Netherlands and promoted to the golden league where last year bronze was taken, the first step to today's gold medal in Grozny.

Japanese champion Asahina Sarah continued her undefeated streak with a comfortable win in Russia. She had also won the Paris Grand Slam in February. Tokai University member Asahina, 20, has now won Grand Slams in Tokyo, Paris and Ekaterinburg in succession and won the All Japan Open weight Championships in April. Read more

The fairy tail of the unseeded Turkish heavyweight Kayra Sayit is not over yet. The 28-year Sayit won the European title in the autumn of her career. Sayit switched from France to Turkey and changed her name from Mathé to Sayit and got more chances to fight internationally. Despite the competition in Turkey in the weight category she was able to take the European title with Belkis Zehra Kaya who won the bronze. Read more
Emilie Andeol is the double reining European champion. The French has a good draw at the European Championships in Kazan for her third title +78kg. She should be able to qualify for the semi finals. Andeol who ranked number 5 in the world and number 1 on the entry list may face Iryna Kindzerska of the Ukraine in the semi final. Both Iryna Kindzerska and Svitlana Iaromka are in a battle. Both athletes represent Ukraine however, only one can go to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Read more
Top seeded and world number 8, Svitlana Iaromka (UKR) had a perfect start of the Grand Prix in Samsun until she was defeated by the Korean Kim Ji-Youn in the semi-final. The last win for Kim on the occasion of a Grand Prix was in 2014 (Jeju). In the final she was opposed to the surprise of the day, Melissa Mojica (PUR), who was coached by Jessica Garcia, who we interviewed yesterday as she just finished the first level of the IJF Academy.
