It is a great weekend for Serbia. With two European Junior titles, the nation has the best junior generation ever. Never Serbia won two titles in one weekend. Nemanja Majdov won his second European title. Last year he couldn’t defend his title won in 2014 due to a long lasting injury, but the Serbian senior Champion fought back in the gym 24/7 and 365 and was awarded in Malaga with this second confirmation of his potential.

Majdov defeated Anri Egutidze in the final U81kg in a good match where Majdov scored a yuko, enough for the victory. Both are great fighters and Egutidze showed his respect to the new champion. Majdov took his time while standing on the tatami to show two fingers to the photographers, he knows how to play the game.

Last year he had three broken ligaments in his knee and one was still broken. Although he participated in the 2015 World Championships, he wasn’t ready yet and had to pay the price. In a Junior Training camp in Paks his knee felt great but in the last 20 seconds of a randori he broke his medial ligament  again. At the World Championships he couldn’t do any groundwork and was out quickly. But since March 2016 he is on his way back with a Serbian U21 title, some senior experience, and national senior title. 17 September was his best day of the year and his family felt the pleasure with dad on the side of the mat.
