The Canadian Paralympic Committee announced that two judokas will compete at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Parapan American judo silver medallist Priscilla Gagne will compete at her first Paralympic Games, in Rio, whilst teammate 42-year-old Tony Walby aims to improve on his seventh place at London 2012.

“Priscilla has enjoyed international success over the past couple of seasons and she has gained a lot of confidence heading into her first Paralympic Games,” said Judo Canada’s Sports Director and Para judo Head Coach Andrzej Sadej.

“Tony is one of the most experienced judokas in the field and he plans to capitalise on that in Rio.”

“We hope you reach the podium this summer while Team Canada at home – 35 million strong – cheers you on,” said Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities.

The judo Rio 2016 events are set to take place between 8-10 September.
