2013 World Championships participant Neal van de Kamer retired as judoka. This year was a last attempt to reach the Olympic Games. With a fifth place at the European Open Sofia and a loss against his direct opponent Frank de Wit and an excellent match against Avtandili Tchrikishvili at the Grand Slam in Paris, didn’t bring him the necessary points. The target was challenged but not achieved.

“This year I’ve made a few great steps in the right direction, but the competition for the Olympic Games was too tough. I was better than ever before physically and mentally, but it was too late. After the Olympic Games Dutch judo will have a change in its structure, I believe in this plan, but in a combination with career and top sports it won’t work for me.”

Neal Van de Kamer won the European Open in Tallinn in 2013 and 2014. He was Dutch Champion in 2008,2009, 2011, 2013 and current Dutch champion. Van de Kamer won title in three different categories. Furthermore he won Dutch titles U15, U20, Teams and Seniors.

"I’d like to thank everyone for the support in my long judo career, especially my parents, family and coaches.”
