Originally from Damascus, Adnan Khankan's journey in judo began at 10 when introduced to the sport by a friend of his father's. He quickly embraced its values, winning his first local competition and later joining the national junior team. Fleeing Syria due to the war, he endured a challenging journey to Europe, finding solace in Germany. Witnessing the Refugee Olympic Team in 2016 ignited hope within him. Now, as an IOC Refugee Athlete Scholarship holder, he's set to compete in the Refugee Olympic Team Paris 2024.
