Indian judoka Shushila Devi Likmabam took silver at the Asian Open in Hong Kong in 2018 and in 2019. Her reputation precedes her and she was also one of the 5 Indian judokas who as chosen to represent India at the Budapest Grand Slam in 2020. She qualified for the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021 as only Indian athlete. She was one of the two highest-ranked Asians outside the top 18 on the Olympic Games Quota (OGQ) Rankings. She secured a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022. She came extremely close to winning gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games but took silver.
