South African Judoka Preston Davids won the South African Open in 2013. The Lightweight competed at many African Championships and African Open Judo tournaments and he took a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Championships in 2016. He became an inspiring coach for young judoka. He passed away at the age of 29 in August 2020.
