Judoka Haruki Uemura is the 1976 Olympic Champion and became the 1975 World Champion. he was finalist at the worlds in 1973. He became President of the All Japan Judo Federation. IJF Hall of Famer since 2015. Following his distinguished career, he served as President of the All-Japan Judo Federation and is currently an IJF Executive Committee member. In 2009, Uemura was awarded the rank of ninth dan and was elected as President of the Kodokan in Tokyo, where he is regularly on the tatami.
