French judoka Guy Auffray was the 1971 World bronze medallist. He turned European champion in 1971 in Goteborg. Auffray was a ninth dan, internationally recognised for his beautiful judo style, on and off of the tatami. He became three-time French champion over his judo career. He passed away in January 2021 at the age of 75 years.
