Pan American Open silver medallist Jose Nova Alcantara, makes his second challenge at the World Championships in 2018. The two-time Junior Pan American Cup winner jumped up two weight categories in 2016 as he went from -81kg directly to -100kg and that immediately paid dividends on the u20 age group stage. Nova Alcantara captured the gold at the Pan American Open in Santo Domingo in 2019 and Punto Cana in 2021. He took the victory at the Panam Open in Santo Domingo in 2022. He took a silver medal at the Pan American Open in Guayaquil in July 2023. Won the 2024 Panam Open in Santo Domingo.
