Georgian heavyweight judoka David Khakhaleishvili was the 1992 Olympic Champion of Barcelona. In that time claimed by the United Soviet Nations CIS. Khakhaleishvili won 4 World Championships medals and was triple European Champion in 1993 (2) and 1996. He triumphed at the German Open World Masters in 1991. He passed away in January 2021.
