British heavyweight judoka Elvis Gordon was 1987 World Championships finalist in Essen. He became European champion in 1988 and won bronze in 1985 and 1992. Gordon won various international events such as British Open, German Open and Commonwealth Games in 1986 and 1990. Elvis passed away in 2011. He triumphed at the German Open World Masters in 1989.
