Judoka Arash Miresmaeili of Iran was double World Champion 2001-2003, he won 3 medals in total and three Asian titles. Miresmaeili was born in Khorramabad (Iran) and was coached by Mohammad Reza. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Iranian world champ Arash Miresmaeili was disqualified for weighing in at nearly four pounds above the limit U66kg as he didn’t want to fight Ehud Vaks (ISR). Miresmaili was later awarded $125,000 by the Government, the same amount given to Olympic gold medallists.
