Japanese judoka Dota Arai became the junior world champion in 2023 in Odivelas. He earned a bronze medal at the 2024 World Championships in Abu Dhabi when he defeated Jorge Fonseca for bronze. Arai took bronze at the Grand Slam in Tashkent in 2024. He captured a silver medal at the Grand Slam in Tokyo in 2023. He finished with bronze at the Cadet Worlds in Sarajevo in 2022. He secured a silver medal at the Grand Prix in Portugal in 2023. Bronze medal at 2024 Grand Slam Tokyo.
