Cadet African Championships gold medallist Fleury Nihozeko, won all three contests by ippon on his way to his first continental title. The youngster went unbeaten in the +90kg category and a day later stepped up to the +100kg category at the Junior African Championships where lost both of his contests. Following his Worlds debut in Baku. He won a bronze medal at the Team event at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires in 2018.
