Tunisian legend Anis Lounifi won the world title in 2001 as first African judoka. He won the African Championships in 2000 and 2002. He confirmed his world level in 2003 when he won bronze at the worlds in Osaka. After his career he became national coach and worked on a new high level generation. Lounifi was inducted into the IJF Hall of Fame in 2018. Since 2022 he works for the Iraqi Judo Federation.
