Turkish judoka Mert Sismanlar became European Cadet Champion in 2017 in Kaunas. He captured a bronze medal at the 2018 Junior World Championships and bronze in 2019 in Marrakech. Mert took silver at the Junior European Championships in Porec in 2020. He was born on the second day of the Olympic Games in Sydney when Türkiye won its first olympic title by Huseyin Ozkan. He claimed a bronze medal at the European U23 title in Budapest in 2021. Sismanlar took a bronze medal at the European Open in Warsaw in 2022 and silver in Oberwart. He bagged a bronze medal at the Grand Prix in Linz in 2023.
