Judo in Italy is booming with the Olympic gold medal of Fabio Basile and Olympic silver of Odette Giuffrida. Judo Italia had the best day ever at 8 August 2016. In 2008 Giulia Quintavalle won gold in Beijing, in 2000 Giuseppe Maddaloni. In 1980 Ezio Gamba was the first Olympic champion. Five World titles were all for Italian judo women, Emanuela Pierantozzi won two world titles. FIJLKAM the Italian Judo Federation is based in Ostia near Rome. Fijlkam Judo had 16 European Champions winning 26 titles. The city of Olbia will organise the 2021 Junior World Championships.
