Judo Austria has a long tradition with great judo champions such as Peter Seisenbacher, double Olympic champion in 1984 and 1988. Ludwig Paischer and Claudia Heill were the last Austrian judoka in the Olympic final. Lupo Paischer (2007) and Sabrina Filzmoser (2010) were the last judoka at world level. Gerda Winklbauer and Edith Hrovath were World Champions from the past. OEJV, the Austrian Judo Federation had 26 European judo champions. Edith Hrovath won 8. still a record. Ludwig Paischer, Daniel Allerstorfer, Sabrina Filzmoser, Kathrin Unterwurzacher and Bernadette Graf fought at the Olympic Games in Rio. Austria won 6 Olympic medals.
