Korean judoka An Chang-Rim became World Champion in 2018 Baku after having won bronze in 2015 and 2017. An was World Junior Champion in 2014 in Miami. He won Grand Slams in Paris and Abu Dhabi. Luise Malzahn belongs to the world class athletes U78kg and was in a heavy battle for a ticket to the Olympic Games. The World bronze medallist of 2015 is used to competition in her category and she finished fifth at the Games in Rio. Kayla Harrison dominated the last two Olympics and in this Olympic cycle the competition was severe. Georgii Zantaraia is a exceptional judoka who won the world title U60kg in 2009 in Rotterdam. The Ukrainian phenomenon won 6 World Championships medals in a row (2009-2018) and took the European title in 2011 and 2018 and he captured European Games gold in Minsk. He stepped up to U66kg in 2012 and still kept performing and recently won a consecutive bronze medal at the Grand Slam in Paris. Only that one precious medal fails. Joakim Dvarby has unfinished business in Tokyo

At the 2019 World Championships in Tokyo Swedish heavyweight Joakim Dvärby showed that he is a real fighter when he continued fighting despite a broken ankle in his previous fight. Joakim Dvärby wants to earn his place in the Olympic village and is well on the way to fulfil his dream. American judoka Travis Stevens won Olympic silver in Rio in 2016. He was fifth at the 2012 London Olympic Games and multiple winner of various IJF event such as Tashkent and Dusseldorf. Travis Stevens won various titles at Panam Championships and Panam Games. He won the World Masters in Guadalajara in 2016. He retired after the Games but didn't stop his activities.
