Commonwealth Judo Championships start in England

Iran wins two gold medals at IBSA event in Tashkent

Two Iranian judo athletes won gold medals at the IBSA Judo Grand Prix 2019 on Tuesday in Tashkent. Vahid Nouri seized a gold, throwing Georgian Lasha Kizilashvili at the -90kg B2 category which is remarkable as the Iran Judo Federation is suspended by the International Judo Federation. Read more

Cadet World Championships Almaty kicks off with draw

464 Judoka from 61 countries are present in Almaty, Kazakhstan for the Cadet World Judo Championships. The sixth edition will deliver new world champions and heroes for the future. The boys U66kg is the biggest of the 16 categories with 41 athletes followed by U73kg with 39. In the girls division girls’ U63 is very competitive with 36 girls the most crowded field U63kg ever since the first edition in 2009. Read more

Austrian judoka Gerhard Dorfinger passed away at the age of 73 years on Sunday. Gerhard was an icon of the Austrian judo sport and one of the most successful judo trainers in Austria. Gerhard Dorfinger was coach of Ludwig Paischer, Marjan Fabian, Thomas Schleicher, Florian Rinnerthaler, Roland Stegmüller and more top athletes in Austria. Read more
