Las Vegas World Championships Veterans 2024: what to expect and where to watch

The IJF Las Vegas World Championship Veterans 2024 and Kata World Championships promises to be a showpiece event for fans of Judo. Scheduled between the 4th and the 11th of November, this expanded tournament will feature judokas from all over the world and of different ages showcasing their talent and experience in this sport with growing popularity. What to expect

This sporting event will be held in the U.S. for the second time since the 2016 championship in Florida. It features the new U23 category, added to the existing tournament division ranging from 30 years to 80 years+ athletes battling for gold. This tournament will attract about 1488 judokas across five continents and 68 nations, including 30 athletes from 7 African nations, 355 from 9 Asian nations, 613 from 35 European nations, 23 from 4 Oceania nations, and 467 from 13 Panamerican nations.

This edition will have 63 men's and 46 womens categories contested between 1302 male and 186 female judokas. The men's division features weight classes ranging from -60kg to 100+ kg, while the women's division will feature weights from -48kg to 78+ kg. The first four days will have the preliminary rounds to determine the final block of contestants for the main events. The desert city of Nevada will host the return of Judo to American soil. U.S Judo contracted MGO events to manage this veteran world championship and ensure its success. MGO events are experienced with over 12 years of involvement in handling international tournaments. Their most recent success came in the last edition of the Veteran and Kata Championship 2023 in Abu Dhabi.

Expectations are high, with the Las Vegas World Championships Veteran 2024. There is a growing community of Judo followers in the United States, especially with the upcoming U.S. Olympics game in 2028 and the general success of the U.S. judo team in the Olympics and other judo-related tournaments. Top-seeded judokas such as  Blocker Tyler, Fdal Mohammed, and Johnson Richard, as well as Hetzel Joey and Kaye Tiara, among other elite fighters, will do battle for gold.
