Who are the top earners in the IJF World Tour
So far this year the athletes from Japan have won the most Prize money in the IJF World Tour. With over 400,000 euro the athletes of Japan collected most of the money among all countries, followed by French judoka. The ranking is only based on individual performances. Athletes are responsible to share 20% with their coaches.
Watch the top 10 top earning countries (in euros) this year so far.
Japan €409700
France €308700
Georgia €188000
Individual Neutral Athletes €175550
Uzbekistan €128000
Israel €127000
Italy €117200
Canada €99500
Spain €96850
Netherlands €93700
Obviously most of the prize money is awarded at World Championships with 800,000 euro prize money for the individual tournament. All world champions won 26,000 euro prize money and all those winners are on top of the list of individual top earners.
Interesting is who collected the most money without that world title. In the top 10 only two are male, which may say something about the competition in the men’s divisions. Top earner in the IJF World Tour is Jessica Klimkait, followed by Greek Elisavet Teltsidou. The first male athlete is Ilia Sulamanidze ranked 8th. The fee includes the share for their coaches.
Jessica Klimkait €26500
Elisavet Teltsidou €21000
Amandine Buchard €18500
Assunta Scutto €18000
Anna-Maria Wagner €17500
Distria Krasniqi €17000
Blandine Pont €16500
Ilia Sulamanidze €16000
Alice Bellandi €16000
Krisztian Toth €15500
The IJF World Tour exists since 2009 and since then over 50 athlete collected more than 100,000 euro of prize money with Teddy Riner and Clarisse Agbegnenou as top earners, followed by Munkhbat Urantsetseg who collected so many medals in the IJF World Tour.
Year to Date Christa Deguchi is judo’s biggest earner with gross 63,000 Euro including her 10,000 euro due to her leading position in the IJF World Tour. Without the World Championships and IJF World Ranking bonus, Alice Bellandi was the most successful from November until now.
With one IJF World Tour event to go in Tokyo, athletes can make up their annual report, unless IJF will award the leaders of the World ranking an annual bonus.
IJF Prize career money leader Teddy Riner would not be ranked in the top 1000 of athletes in the ATP World Tour.
